Ogden Retractable Awning
In Ogden, a new custom-built home by Sound Custom Builders, one of our favorite building partners, presented a unique challenge. The homeowner, Ralph, was looking for a way to enjoy his hot tub on his third-story porch in complete privacy while also escaping the scorching summer heat.
This was a fun project that required some creativity. For the hot tub, we suggested vertically installed Bahama shutters with articulating blades. These shutters allow Ralph to adjust airflow when desired while also providing full privacy when needed. Not only do they serve a functional purpose, but they also blend seamlessly with the aesthetics of his home.
To further enhance comfort, we installed a 24-foot-wide retractable awning, providing ample shade for the entire third-floor porch. This feature ensures Ralph can relax without the intense North Carolina sun beating down on him.
The final results? Ralph can now enjoy his hot tub in private, stay cool during the hottest months, and as an added bonus—his neighbors no longer have to witness Ralph’s hot tub moments. It’s a win-win for everyone!
